Rihanna: Man Down (Video)

FINALLY !! Rihanna's fifth single (US) 'Man Down' has finally made an appearance. The visual was just freshly premiered on BET's "106 & Park" (around 12am UK). The joint which was co-written by fellow Bajan Shontelle, had to be shot somewhere in the Caribbean to match with the rhythmic reggae sounds produced by Shama Joseph. The video was shot and directed by Anthony Mandler in Jamaica in April 2011. Mandler told MTV News of the video in May:

"It's just one of those songs that demands a strong narrative and visual...you can expect something that's dramatic and shocking and intense and emotional and uplifting and enlightening."

The last couple of videos Mandler has shot for RiRi have been very floral and pretty; not to say this one isn't pretty but the reality of the song is seriously emotional a tad disturbing and definitely dramatic !! When it comes to translating audio to a visual Mandler is your man, and he has lived up to every word he told MTV under a month ago. The visual other than the guns that add the 'gangsta' appeal that Rihanna told MTV of last year, really makes you want to book a flight out to Jamaica and enjoy the relaxed vibe of the island while sipping on some fresh jelly coconut juice - as Rihanna does in the footage. MESSAGE...Rihanna also tweeted earlier that there is a message in her 'shocking' track: dsds

"Very strong underlying message 4 girls like me! #listentoyomama"

ONE ISSUE... the video could potentially be band from certain channels as did her S&M video, but this time due to the violent elements to the song and video. I'm hoping that they won't edit it or band it, but we'll see. Apologies in advance if the video doesn't work. With no further adieu, check it out...

FINALLY !! Rihanna has blessed us with a visual for the sixth single 'California King Bed' from her album Loud. The video is perfect for the track thanks to the creative brilliance of Anthony Mandler - who also directed 'Only Girl In The World'. The videos are pretty similar especially in tint - the natural rosey colours that seem to be the theme of her album. Some have even describe it as the "same" as 'Only Girl' only with the addition of the hot male model. In the video we see a sensual rather than the uber sexified side to RiRi - and she is looking BEAUTIFUL in the clip. The set was chosen well and shots are brilliant. Check it out, and enjoy...

The saucy Bajan beauty has been doing a spot of magazine interviews for the last couple of weeks. Last week we saw her looking very much like Rabbit, on VOGUE'S (US) April 2011 issue. Now this week she covers Fabulous Mag (UK) - a supplement of The News Of The World's Sunday newspaper. This is the second time the now 23 year old has covered Fabulous Magazine, her first time back in 2008 on issue 5. Since then she has come a very long way, she has come through her 'dark days', is now 'older and stronger' and much more sexier. The Reb'l Fleur talks about her childhood and the effect that it has on her person and career today. She also talks about her being seen as a 'sex symbol' and if marriage is soon on the cards for her - since her BFF Katy Perry has been hitched. I didn’t want a normal hair colour. I’d had blonde and it was so boring. Black is still my favourite, but I was looking for a colour that was edgy. I guess it was just the place I was in at that time. I felt like being spontaneous, and I also wanted to go for something extreme. I couldn’t do green or purple or pink, so red was like the fine line between normal and extreme!” She giggles at the thought – Rihanna laughs a lot during our interview. It’s partly this mischievous sense of fun which makes men want to date her and women want to be her BFF.

Rihana is surely one female that is on top of her game. Since the release of LOUD and the change of hair colour from the Rated R black and gold to a radiant red, she's been on a huge floral and vibrant campaign. If you've noticed with RiRi every album seems to run with a theme. Now she's continuing the current theme with the launch of her first perfume, Reb'l Fleur. It's all in the name, the irony of being bad feeling good, one of the themes that runs through her latest album; this idea is also echoed in the advert. The fragrance exclusive to the US department store, Macy's captures the Caribbean in a bottle. It has fragrances of violets and hibiscus flowers with a 'splash' of coconut water. So that's something definitely smelling exotic. To bottle it all up in a real girly way, the female fragrance is in a bottle that looks like an upside down stiletto heel. I can't wait for this to hit the UK !! Freshly premiered via Kanye West's VEVO channel is the video for 'All of the Lights'. FINALLY... the track featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi was featured on the end of his 'Runaway' video finally has it's own visual. Yet again Mr West has gone for some visually exiting but confusing stuff with the help of directed Hype Williams. The clip is a mixture of flashy neon text and clips of West, RiRi and Cudi individually. CONFUSION... for the first minute of the video there are some real beautiful shots, but you'll kind of be like WTF? and RELEVANCE? but of course it makes sense in due course. The other bit of confusion - unless you've done your research like moi, is that there are all these other stars names at the end of the track. These are some of the guest vocalists including: Alicia Keys, John Legend, The-Dream, Fergie, La Roux, Elton John, Ryan Leslie, Charlie Wilson and Tony Williams. YUP.... I agree that's a lot to take in. All of these stars vocals have been layered so it will be a lot of ear work to hear them all individually. ONE LAST THING.... serious props to Hadaya Turner who was the lead editor on the clip - brilliant work. Now y'all can check the clip out after the jump. Enjoy :)

Rihanna is about to top the charts again with her latest single from the LOUD album, 'S&M'. The video directed by Melina Matsoukas (the lady responsible for Ludacris' 'Money Maker' video) is very fun, vibrant and of course raunchy !! Here we see RiRi as a party animal with that crazy Ronald McDonald wig she was wearing the other week. There's also a cameo from the queen of celebrity blogging Perez Hilton !!  WHAT I THINK... it's a real cool video, and this Stargate produced track is definitely going to climb the charts. Might even be another UK #1 for the star !! The fish eye camera lens that create those really zoomed in shots remind me very much of Pink's 2001 UK #2 video for 'Get This Party Started'. Eminem and Rihanna are sitting very nicely at the top of the US charts right about now with their single 'Love The Way You Lie', Em is also at the top of the album chart with his seventh studio album Recovery. GREAT STUFF... in the meanwhile on Wednesday (21st July) the two were spotted on set for the upcoming video for the track in front of a burning house !! The video is being directed by the man behind RiRi's ex 'I Can Transform Ya' - Joseph Kahn. ME... I'm totally loving what RiRi has done with her red hair, the little bow suits her. I'm also loving that outfit !! ANYWAY... though this is Eminem's track, check out some more pics of Rihanna after the jump !!

Rihanna graces the covers July's Elle magazine, for the second time in her career. RiRi covered it back in 2008 - when she had a little more meat on her. Maybe her world tour with all that dropping and dancing she has been doing doing has had a huge impact on her 'curves'. In this issue she talks about her loss of curves and designers using more curvaceous models, her boyfriend Matt Kemp and of course without fail, her ex Chris Brown. Is she fully over him then, if she keeps dropping him in every damn interview she has. 'Rudeboy' is the third single from the popstress fourth studio album 'Rated R' she told Q magazine that the song is:
